The pole-winning number 7 TS050 will start from the back of the grid due to a speeding infringement in pit lane.

driver Jose Maria Lopez was found to be exceeding the maximum speed in the pit lane with 68.7 km/h instead of 60 km/h. As such, Lopez was found to be in breach of Article 10.8.11 of WEC Regulations, with a penalty of 900 Euros to be imposed and an annulment of all lap times achieved by the driver.

This elevated the number 8 Toyota entry of Fernando Alonso, Kazuki Nakajima and Sebastien Buemi into pole position, with the sister TS050 to start at the rear of the grid.

The number 8 Toyota now has a perfect qualifying record this season, albeit the second time achieved as the result of a penalty.

As a consequence, the number 1 Rebellion entry of Neel Jani and Andre Lotterer will start on the front of the grid alongside the number 8 Toyota.
