With Toyota once again leading the non-hybrid LMP1 field by over a second in Free Practice Three for the 6 Hours of Fuji, the FIA Endurance Committee have announced a mid-weekend Equivalence of Technology update has been granted to close the field.
The move comes after the Toyota’s were already hit with a 26kg weight increase before the weekend.
Dragon Speed and Rebellion Racing have both been granted an extra 1.1 kg of fuel per stint, whilst the turbo-charged ByKolles and SMP Racing entries have been given a similar relaxation – albeit some 5kg’s off the total allowed to Dragon Speed and Rebellion.
SMP Racing finished 1.1 seconds behind the leading TS050 to take third in FP3 ahead of both Rebellion entries.
In LMP2, Jackie Chan DC Racing finished first and third, only to be split by the number 28 TDS Racing entry of Jean-Vergne.
Porsche, Ford and Aston Martin took the top three positions in LM GTE Pro in the hands of Kevin Estre, Andy Priaulx and Nicki Thiim respectively whilst in LM GTE Am, the number 24 Gulf Racing Porsche of Thomas Preining led both Dempsey Proton Racing entries.
As practice drew to a close, the number 90 ST Sport entry stopped with an apparent fire.
Qualifying for the 6 Hours of Fuji begins at 2pm local time.
