The released their 2019-20 calendar at Silverstone on Friday which will see the Northamptonshire track open the WEC Championship which will see a revised format from this year.

Whilst supporting races to Le Mans have historically been six hour races, the return of Bahrain on the calendar will see the Middle Eastern round run for eight hours, while rounds Silverstone and Shanhai have been reduced to four hours.

The changes have emanated from the results of the WEC Fan Survey conducted at the end of last season, with said WEC CEO Gerard Neveu claiming the changes are a reflection of the series’ audiences needs.

“Our fans spoke, we listened and have reacted,” said Neveu.

“Naturally we have had a period of consultation with our partners and competitors, and we believe that this new calendar will meet their expectations and requirements as well as please the fans who are so important to us all.”

The calendar is subject to approval by the FIA World Motor Sport Council, which meets on Oct. 12.
