The third round of the 2018-19 FIA World Endurance Championship Super Season – the 6 Hours of Silverstone – is just two weeks away on the 17th and 19th of August.
LMP1 entries (and perhaps an outsider will be eager to take the coveted Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy, the oldest trophy in motorsport (which has only been won once by a British driver, Anthony Davidson, since the WEC launched in 2012).
Davidson himself will be joining the DragonSpeed ORECA’s line-up in place of Nathanael Berthon, marking Davisons first LMP2 start since driving for Toyota.
Compatriot Jenson Button will also be making his first appearance at Silverstone since 2016 after making his Le Mans debut in the number 11 SMP entry.
Not unexpectedly, none of the TRSM Ginetta G60-LT-P1’s have confirmed an entry after thei complications at the opening round at Spa.
The ByKolles driver line-up however has been confirmed, featuring ex IndyCar driver Rene Binder in who will replace Formula E regular, Tom Dillman while the remaining seat is yet to be announced.
The team will test a new high-downforce aero package next at Spa in preparation for Silverstone.
Last year’s 6 Hours of Silverstone saw four cars finishing within 27 seconds of each other in the Pro category and, in the Am class, there was just 1.7s between the first two placegetters.
There has been some reshuffling in the Aston Martin ranks, with a reduced driver line-up resulting in Johnny Adam moving to the TF Sport outfit.
