Fenando Alonso hailed his 6 Hours of Spa victory as an “amazing weekend”, which was the product of a “lot of preparation” with over the winter with the  crew.

“I am delighted with the result”, said Alonso.

“The whole weekend has been amazing in terms of team performance, a one-two in qualy, a one-two in the race.  There’s been a lot of preparation into this project with winter testing, with simulator, with a lot of people in the factory building these two cars. Then you have to come to the races and deliver the results”.

Alonso’s only win at Spa was in Formula 3000 back in 2000, but says his first World Championship victory there owed much to the support of his team mates.

“I think we executed the race in the best way we could, and extremely happy to win my first endurance race. Seb and Kazuki I think did an amazing job, made my life a little bit easier, and thanks to everyone in the team”.

““I was telling Kazuki and Sebastien it is so nice to be on the podium and I will be here all night long, so pick me up tomorrow morning because I will try to sleep here”.
