will return to action with the Formula E team at this month’s , following Ma Qing Hua’s cameo at the last round in Paris.

eRacing Magazine understands that reserve driver Ma was drafted in to coincide with a promotional event taking place on the same weekend at the Beijing Auto Show in China, where the team NIO is based.

Filippi has had a difficult debut season so far, scoring just a single point at the season opener in Hong Kong, but will return to the cockpit in Berlin as teammate to Oliver Turvey and is now expected to complete the season with NIO.

A team spokesperson said the team had “exercised its right to change a driver once before the last three events, giving Ma some 2018 race seat time and experience as reserve driver.”

Ma endured a difficult return in Paris, qualifying slowest of all but starting from 17th place after Nelson Piquet, Mitch Evans and Edoardo Mortara were handed grid penalties.

The Chinese driver failed to get away from his starting slot due to an inverter issues, falling several laps behind and finishing last of the 17 classified runners.
