Mahindra’s set the pace in the second and final free practice session ahead of the Rome ePrix, ahead of DS Virgin’s Sam Bird and reigning champion Lucas Di Grassi.


After leading for most of the session, Rosenqvist extended his advantage over Di Grassi following his 200kw lap around 8 minutes before the end of the session. Bird’s 200kw lap then moved him up to second ahead of Di Grassi but 0.344s shy of Rosenqvist’s best.



looked set to join his DS Virgin teammate Sam Bird near the top of the standings but the Brit lost the rear and struck the wall near the end of his 200kw lap, bringing out a red flag for the second time today.


Dragon showed improved pace with Jose Maria Lopez in fourth, ahead of the two Renault e.Dams of Nico Prost and Sebastien Buemi.


Jerome D’Ambrosio finished seventh to put both Dragon cars in the top 10 with FP1 pacesetter Nelson Piquet, BMW Andretti’s Tom Blomqvist and Jaguar’s Mitch Evans rounding out the top 10.


Championship leader Jean-Eric Vergne did not do a 200kw lap and finished the session down in 16th place, three places ahead of Techeetah teammate Andre Lotterer who locked up and failed to complete his 200kw run.
