turned the tables in Free Practice 2, with Jose Maria Lopez topping the second session at Fuji for the Japanese squad.

Lopez put in a best lap of 1:39.202 in the number 7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid, despite being three seconds slower than Andre Lotterer’s 1:35.527 set in FP1.

The session was red-flagged for three quarters of an hour for an accident and to repair barriers after Vitaly Petrov threw his number 25 Manor Racing Oreca 07 Gibson into the wall, sustaining damage to the rear in the process.

When repairs were completed, conditions had worsened however, leaving only a few drivers daring to head out for the remaining 25 minutes.

The number 38 Jackie Chan DC Racing Oreca headed LMP2 while Ford Chip Ganassi Racing and Clearwater Racing toped both the GTE Pro and Am classes respectively.

Another rain-hit Free Practice 3 is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
