Earl Bamber headed the timesheets for in Free Practice 1 for the FIA 6 Hours of Circuit of The Americas.


Bamber’s 1:48.124, was enough to pip the 124 to edge out the sister number 1 Porsche 919 Hybrid of Andre Lotterer, Nick Tandy and Neel Jani by 0.145 seconds and keep the German manufacturer ahead of both of the Toyota Gazoo Racing TSO50s.


Sebastien Buemi and Stephane Sarrazin (subbing for Anthony Davidson managing a 1:48.584, were three tenths of a second off of the leading Porsche. Meanwhile, the number 7 Toyota set a best time of 1.49:314.


In LMP2 the G-Drive Racing ORECA of Alex Lynn was the class of the field, with the Brit setting a time of 1.55:399, half a second ahead of the number 28 TDS Racing Oreca of Matthieu Vaxiviere and the number 36 Singatech Alpine A470 with Gustavo Menezes at the wheel.


Ford topped GTE Pro, rebounding from a weekend in Mexico that Harry Tincknell taking top honours in the number 66 Ford GT,  leading the sister 67 car, both setting a 2:04.939 and 2:05.213 respectively.


In GTE Am, Pedro Lamy was quickest in the 98 Aston Martin Vantage GTE.
