Former Formula 1 driver tested a car at Donington Park on Tuesday as revealed on Motorsport.com, fueling rumours that the Polish star may finally return to single-seater racing.

Taking place in secrecy at Donnington Park Circuit. Kubica drove exploratory laps in a GP3 car  in April during a private test as a precursor to the Renault Spark test this month. Limited movement available for drivers in single-seater cockpits, meant Kubica was confined to racing rally and sports cars as a result of his injuries (a partially severed right hand sustained in his 2010 Rally crash in Italy).

With José María López, Sam Bird and Sébastien Buemi all having to skip the New York ePrix due to clashing commitments in the FIA World Endurance Championship at the Nürburgring, there could be an option to drive for DS Virgin or  are therefore the likely options, with Kubica himself having walked away from a drive with ByKolles a few weeks ago.

Such an addition would be a perfect fit for Renault e.dams, given the French manufacturer’s association with Kubica in Formula One.

Both Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton have publicly and privately confided that Kubica was most likely the best of their generation and the one driver they feared most.
