Former Sauber, Ferrari and current HAAS F1 star has confirmed he is to race for Techeetah for the reminder of season 3 of FIA Formula E.

The current HAAS F1 man has had a difficult life in F1 thus far, seeing him getting axed at Sauber and only being able to get a reserve role at Ferrari shortly after. Since coming back to the sport, the Mexican is yet to score a point for HAAS F1. He hopes this will “change” in 2017 for F1 and Formula E respectively.

“I’m very grateful to join Techeetah, a team with real competitiveness,” Gutierrez said in a statement.

“After four years of an incredible experience in F1, I’m now taking a step forward into the future of motorsports”.

“I am especially excited about my debut race at the Mexico City ePrix. Hopefully I can put on a good show for the passionate home fans.”

Gutierrez is to replace Chinese driver Ma Qing Hua, who has struggled to compete since making his debut for Techeetah at the Hong Kong ePrix last October.
